Network Specialist/Engineer – Access Networks

Responsibilities
- Analyzing and designing Fiber-To-The-Premise (FTTP) access networks for ISPs
- Implementing network designs for access networks and configuring equipment/related systems
- Performing network upgrades and subscriber migrations
- Configuring and testing Ethernet circuits
- Directly working with ISPs to troubleshoot issues in access network existing networks
- Documenting and diagraming networks, relevant processes and troubleshooting steps
- Communicating technical concepts in a clear and understandable manner
- Keeping up with industry developments, new technologies and best practices
- Improving knowledge and expertise through independent research, practice, and industry accepted certifications
Qualifications
- Proficiency with FTTP GPON/XGS-PON/NG-PON2 and Active Ethernet technologies
- Understanding of networking concepts and IP networks
- Understanding of Carrier Ethernet and MEF concepts
- Hands-on experience with access equipment from vendors such as: Adtran, Calix, Nokia, DZS and related element management systems
- Experience with DSLAMs and multi-service access platforms is a plus
- Network certifications are considered a plus
- Proficiency with standard operations of Windows-based computers and Office product suite
- Good oral and written communication
- Ability to work as part of a team
- Excellent problem-solving skills
- Ability to work on multiple projects
- Attention to details and good judgment
- Desire to learn and apply what you learn immediately
Education and Experience
- Requires 3-5 years’ experience of operating, troubleshooting and/or designing telecommunication FTTP access networks
- Computer/Management Information Systems or similar bachelor's degree s
- Engineering or Computer Science degree is required for the Network Engineer role
